Absolutely nothingAug 13 2004English
Absolutely nothing. In 1993, I transferred here from an out of state university whose tuition, initially, was a MUCH better value than Delaware's, and whose curriculum actually included my major (Library Science). After my beloved KU raised their out of state tuition 40%, all but packing my bags for me, I had to come here. The transfer process was a joke. I submitted transcripts and test scores and then received a letter of acceptance. This university now is clamoring to become Ivy League, mandating that students now spend at least one semester abroad or perform an internship before they are allowed to graduate. It has become increasingly difficult to get in, as they are now screening for top test scores and highest GPA's. It looks great in college profiles to have the best of the best, but everyone else - the average student - gets the waitlist and the shaft. Do yourself a favor -if you can get an education at a smaller school and be assured that you will study within your major, receive at least a minimum amount of individual attention from professors and TA's, and not be awakened at 3:00 a.m. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT by bogus fire drills while living in Rodney, do it. Stay as far away from this place as you can, because if you don't drink and you're more of an introvert, this is not the place for you.

I had an 1130 SAT and 2.5 GPA out of HS...I didn't get in immediately. But I transferred after getting a 3.4 my Freshman year and was accepted.

U of D has become one of the most competitive Universities around. Your GPA in h.s. and extra curricular activities are extremely important. Without the lists of activities I probably would not have gotten in. If you do come here be prepared to get involved in many activities!

I had a 2.9999 GPA and an 1110 SAT score and i got into this school last year. I didnt have any extracurricular activities either. I just wrote a long essay saying how much i wanted to go to the school. If u really want to come to the school make sure u let them know that.Visit the campus mention names of professors and if an admissions officer comes to your school talk with the person and let them get to know u. I also mentioned my job that i had and got a great letter of recommendation from my employer. The admissions standards arnt really as high as they say alot of people i know that go here had similiar grades and SAT's too me. Grades and SAT's arnt everything, i had some of the lowest SAT's and highschool GPA but first semester at Delaware i was in the top 20 percent of my class. People with 4.0's and 1300's do fail out, my first semester roomate haha.

1400+ SAT, 700+ SAT IIs, Student Body President andNov 19 2003English
1400+ SAT, 700+ SAT IIs, Student Body President and about 10 pages (I'm really not kidding) of club and fundraising activities in high school. mostly B+'s in my All-honors engineering and AP courseload (I could've graduated in 2 years, but was there for 4, for kicks). That was 4 years ago and that was good enough for the honors program and 4K/yr in scholarship. Now, I've heard it's a lot tougher. Quite honestly I don't know if kids still take the SAT, or how its scored, so beats me. I'm caucasian but I'd say being hispanic would help since one of my buddies with slightly better grades, the same courseload and a 1200 SAT was going for free on a hispanic engineering scholarship until he flunked out.
