I actually didn't apply until the last minute (likeAug 31 2012Undecided
I actually didn't apply until the last minute (like in January!) because I didn't think I was able to apply because I only had 2 years of foreign language and I was told Boulder required 3 (even collegeboard.com says this)! But it turns out you can apply with 2, but you just have to take your third year of foreign language (or whatever you are lacking) at some point while at the university!

Fast forward a few months, I was accepted at the end of March, visited in April, and committed by May 1st!

I am an out of state student so it was probably easier for me to get in than say an in state student with the same "statistics" as me, because well quite frankly my family is paying $50,000 while theirs is $25,000 or so.

I only had a 3.25 overall for high school - no AP or Honor classes. I did play some sports and had a job after school. I got a 1600/2400 on the SAT and didn't take the ACT. Pretty mellow grades overall - I didn't think i'd get accepted but I was fortunate enough to!

Well because my GPA was rockin' (4Jun 07 2010Political Science
Well because my GPA was rockin' (4.3 weighted) and I got a 29 on my ACT and was in state the school had to accept me (ya it's mandated or something). Anyhow, it's not that hard to get accepted as long as you aren't a complete dolt. I suggest spending time writing a good essay and stressing extracurriculars and all that jazz.

To get into CU, I had a high school GPA of 3Apr 30 2009Civil Engineering
To get into CU, I had a high school GPA of 3.6, and an ACT score of 31, and some strong recommendations. I participated in some school sports (Basketball and Soccer) and clubs (TSA and FBLA), which might have helped my admission status as well. My strongest advice would be to volunteer. I participated in a variety of programs and kept my GPA strong but I didn't get any scholarships right away. My roommate, however, had the same GPA, participated in next to no clubs, but had over 200 volunteer hours. She got a full ride scholarship from CU for all 4 years, including rent and books.

good gpa and extracurriculars in high school so that you can get into the college of your choice within the university.... you have to have a very high college GPA if you try to get in later

I found that getting into CU wasn't too hardJun 08 2005Geography and Geosciences
I found that getting into CU wasn't too hard...I came from a public school in Pennsylvania, with a 1220 on my SAT's, and finishing roughly in the middle of my HS class, although my HS does not do official class rankings...furthermore, I had only 1 or 2 extracurricular activities in HS on my "resume"...basically, I cruised through high school, and padding my resume for college was something that I absolutely did not do, and I got into CU, Purdue, and Arizona State; was rejected from Wisconsin and North Carolina...I understand that CU has tightened up their standards a little more since I got in, but I still wouldn't worry too much about getting in as long as your keeping up with things in HS...
