UConn has gotten pretty selectiveApr 23 2017Business - Management and Administration
UConn has gotten pretty selective. You should be in the top quarter, if not top tenth of your graduating class. A good SAT/ACT score is a must. You should also look into extracurricular activities to set yourself apart from other students. A solid resume will include a lot of in school and out of school activities. Recommendations and your essay may sway admissions, however. Overall, it's worth applying to UConn. It is such an incredible school, and a great value too!

If you live in state its damn hard toSep 22 2016Political Science
If you live in state its damn hard to get into Storrs, especially if you live close to one of the branch campuses. Id say you have to be in the top 15-20% or so of your in state graduating class to get in. If you are out of state, its much much easier to get in, and I wouldn't worry. They are much more accepting to out of state students that have lower scores or grades than what they "expect".

My SATDec 23 2014PreMed and Medical
My SAT scores were ok, but not AMAZING like most people I have met at UConn. I had a total of 1740 I think, but my GPA was very good. I was second in my class and had a 3.9 Gpa. I received a lot of awards for volunteering and helping my community. I took college classes (3 every semester) starting my junior year at a local University in Hartford. Just make sure that you have a very good GPA, get involved in extra curriculum activities, and have acceptable SAT scores.

I took a lot of courses in high schoolJan 21 2014Public Policy
I took a lot of courses in high school through UConn's high school early-college-experience program, so that definitely helped. While I did not go the first time around, I believe that this was still beneficial the second time. My SAT math/verbal was 1200 on the old scale, but the competitiveness for this has definitely increased over the past few years. The big thing is doing well in your last couple of years of high school. I don't say this only because it is the most recent, but in these years most students take coursework that more directly relates to what they want to do in college because of electives. If you want to go into physics, do well in math and science. If you want to go into anthropology, do well in English and history. If you're heading for business, take some business and economics electives and at least pre-calculus. As a large school, GPA and SAT scores will definitely get you through the initial screenings, but it is your essay and related courses that will get you in. If you're undecided, try to take your electives across many subjects to give yourself the most options. It's hard to give advice on how to get into UConn in general because we have 100 majors now, but it's pretty well known how to get into the individual colleges/programs. Good luck!
