I was in the top 5% of my class, so I automatically got in. My suggestion if you really want to go, is focus on the essay portion of all your scholarships and your applications. Make them unique. No one wants to hear about how you lead you student council or had a hard time making it in your state choir. That's the same boring crap everyone comes here with.

If you're a successful student, don't sweat about A&M acceptance. It's not that competitive.

If you're stats are borderline, do all that you can to show your interest (but not over the top). For example, complete the optional requirements such as extra essays and getting good teacher recommendations. If you honestly want to go to A&M, it should show through in your app.

TOP TEN PERCENT. If you work hard enough to make it into top ten percent in high school, you shouldn't have much of a problem surviving at Texas A&M as long as you keep the same work ethic alive. If you aren't top ten, write essays that aren't totally lame and predictable and get some impressive SAT scores. If you are non-white you'll probably get in easier. Trust me though, getting top ten percent is way easier and there's no sweat waiting to be approved.

If you don't, go BLINN team. If you actually care and try hard, you'll be admitted to the University after a year or two at Blinn Community College.

Not terribly hard to get into, though some degrees are very competitive (business, engineering, architecture). Take time on your essay, and do well in high school! AP classes are great. I managed to come in with 36 hours.
