Try your bestMar 20 2010English
Try your best. Ohio Wesleyan admits a lot of people, but many end up leaving because they can't handle the work. If your top 35% of the class, have an ACT of at least 25 and a GPA of at least 3.0, you'll get in. For scholarships, aim for top 15%, 3.6 GPA, and 28 ACT.

Ohio Wesleyan accepts anyone with certain combinations of classFeb 17 2010English
Ohio Wesleyan accepts anyone with certain combinations of class rank, GPA, and ACT/SAT scores. For example, I'm 6th of my class, have a 3.92/4.0 GPA, and obtained a 30 on the ACT both times I took it (31 superscore!). My friends, on the other hand got in with these stats: 24 ACT, 13th of Class, 3.7-ish GPA; 22 ACT, 30-ish in class rank, 3.5 GPA. The latter was told she was an exception, that the University only admitted her because her GPA outweighed her ACT score.

Simply put, a lot of people think OWU lets "anybody" in; this is true to some degree, but you can assume all that people that get in have some sort of intelligence and respectable work ethic.

In order to get into the honors program, however, you need to meet 2 of 3 factors: top 10%, 27-36 on the ACT, or GPA of 3.5 and above. My friend didn't meet the ACT requirement but was invited to the program.

In a nutshell, the problem I have with Ohio-WesleyanOct 03 2008Economics
In a nutshell, the problem I have with Ohio-Wesleyan are few but serious. Firstly, I am shocked by how dependent the social and extracurricular scene has become on networking tools. Consider a recent experience I had trying to find a volunteer job in this bustling metropolis called Delaware, Ohio-Basically, I had to call at least 15 different organizations and beg and plead with them to let me volunteer. "Hey Mr, can I please pay in excess of 60 dollars to fill up my tank and drive 20 minutes on busy roads and through diabolical weather to work in your office doing your tasks without pay?" I definitely think it should be easier for students to negotiate their way around campus and outside of town to get involved; right now there's a serious disconnect between what's advertised and what's actually taking place. More importantly, however, there's the issue of the academics. I've seen both worlds and am ultimately not convinced that the small setting here makes lectures any more direct or intimate. You still have to put up with the same busywork nonesense with distant, standoffish professors, only difference really is the rooms are smaller so they feel cramped and stuffy! Oh, and you're in Delaware, Ohio which basically sucks. It's a given that there are some excellent professors here, but it's also a given that are there excellent professors at Ohio-State, Denison, Kenyon, Wooster, Mount Union, John Caroll, have I listed all the colleges in Ohio? Let me move on to the next state, how about California? Yeah California's niiiiiiice

Personal interview and visit to campus. Good grades and test scores OR if you don't have a great GPA, you must prove that you have lots of potential and are willing to work hard to do well.
