Honestly not sure other than the usual having good grades, test scores, and some decent extracurriculars. I know its significantly harder for out of state kids to get in then for in state so keep that in mind.

I was over a 4Sep 07 2016Undecided
I was over a 4.0 student, got a 32 on my ACT, took part in volunteering and worked during high school, was inducted into NHS, and took a lot of AP classes. That said, you don't have to do all that to get in. I personally am more academic than social. Just try as hard as you can. Ohio State wants to see that you succeeded in your classes and in your personal life. It's competitive, sure, but you don't have to be perfect to get in. I didn't do any sort of extra curriculars, which is why other schools turned me down. Ohio State looks at what you did do, not just didn't. This year, the dorms were 117% full, if that tells you how accepting they are. They won't take just anyone though. If you haven't challenged yourself and you slacked off in high school, then your chances are pretty low of getting in. I recommend trying advanced class's you know you can handle. That is, take ones that will challenge you and sound interesting. Don't take an advanced class for the reason it's advanced and get a D when you could have gotten an A in a regular class. Take your ACT over and over until you're satisfied with your score. OSU takes the highest. And get involved with something. If a club or sport doesn't speak to you, try theater, or volunteering, or work, or peer mentoring, or religious groups. Something that shows you'll contribute to OSU. They had a lot of non-club or sport related activities, so they will value those activities.

I transferred from another University which was not particularly enjoyable. However, it blew Ohio State out of the water when it came to safety cleanliness and resources. I would recommend the transfer method or going to a branch campus if you truly wanted to go. However, if your looking for a great education run to another school because all you have here is people who love football.

I'm a high school senior this year from Massachusetts and I really want to get into ohio state. I have a 4.27 gpa and got an 1890 on my sat. I do a ton of sports and participate in national honor society, church volunteering, and work as a beach lifeguard in the summer. Do you think I can get in?/ If I get in could I get any scholarship?
