I applied in May with my common app, and a short essay about honesty, since I know they have this love affair with the honor code.

Getting in wasn't very difficultDec 13 2010Other
Getting in wasn't very difficult. Personally, I have a scholarship and guaranteed admission, so I can't help much in this department. But some of my friends tell me that even the essay they wrote for admission was crappy, but they still made it in. Most of the time the people that attend here were wait-listed at UVA or William and Mary. So it's a lot easier to get in here than those schools.

For minorities especially, since the school is trying to increase its diversity, you probably have a much better chance to get in. Not being racist or anything.

Had a 3.3 gpa, but with a extremely positive trend (2.2 in freshman and 4.2 in senior).
Had about above average SAT scores (1330 w/o writing).
I think my essay was good but nothing spectacular.
I don't know about my recommendation but I imagine it was good, though not raving.
I mentioned a few clubs that I was involved in, though I had no leadership roles.
Overall this is not a hard school to get into. It seems to be either a safety school, not a dream school.
