GradeMar 13 2017Education
Grades are important but extracurricula's are just as important. Marist wants their students to be involved on and off of campus. Show interest in the school, come on a tour, get in touch with admissions or the dean of your school (major), and reach out to current students!

I studied really hard in high school to get good grades, but I also was really involved and held a few leadership positions. Marist looks for well-rounded students who make time for their studies in addition to having other interests. I would recommend taking a few AP courses to potentially earn college credit and challenge yourself.

Worked hard and maintained a 3.8 gpa.

I recommend going to another school. Marists diploma is worthless.

Applying was not difficult, there's a $50 application fee. They look for well rounded kids who are active in their high schools and have good grades and SAT's. i had a 1260 between Math and Reading, so I got some academic money along with my athletic scholarship. they are pretty good about grants and scholarships and the amounts start at $5000 which is nice.

Having a good GPA and test scores is a big help, but it isn't everything. If possible, take a more challenging course load in HS (especially AP credits, it'll be a big help in the future) and definitely be involved. Clubs and volunteering in things that are interest you and are important to you are highly recommended. Work experience is also big, so do what you can and try to be as well-rounded of a student as possible.
