Work hard in high school (even though you'll lookNov 25 2018Political Science
Work hard in high school (even though you'll look back on it years down the road and question all the stupid things you did too 'look good' for the school), do your best with standardized test (you don't have to get perfect scores) and be sincere with your essays and cover letters. They legitimately look for people, not numbers.
ACT: 32 Female
My essay was shit, and got me denied fromAug 10 2016Computer Science
My essay was shit, and got me denied from every other school (except for my state school) including UPenn despite the fact that I had double alumni there and applied ED. I was probably only admitted to Cornell since I was a girl in CS. Honestly this school seems to value affirmative action over everything, considering I know someone who got in with a 1600/2400. They have to keep up those golden percentages to further their business. So, just be a minority in your field.
ACT: 35 SAT: 2300 Female
I had built up a great resume and wasMar 10 2014Mechanical Engineering
I had built up a great resume and was involved in A LOT of activities/sports/clubs etc. in high school which I think really helped me get in. I also had a 4.0; obviously grades are very important. My SATs weren't that great though but I wish they were better so I could've gotten into the school I actually wanted to go to.
SAT: 2020 Female
If you are not an engineer and are ignoringSep 29 2013Biology
If you are not an engineer and are ignoring my advice to apply to another college (probably because of an irrational obsession with the Ivy title), then to get admission, be sure to keep your GPA above a 3.85/4.00, take at least 7 AP courses successfully, involve yourself in at least three extra curricular activities in two different areas, and carefully write your college essays.
SAT: 2310 Female
Show an interest and be involved in your schoolAug 15 2011Business - Management and Administration
Show an interest and be involved in your school. More of a chance getting into Cornell with lower scores and grades and leadership, many activities and experiences than super high SATs and grades with no activities.
