Positive Negative Neutral Advice

Overall I am dissatisfied with the UW. Teachers make you jump through a million hoops (aka time wasting assignments that are not mentally challenging--which I found to be particularly true outside of my major). Also in my department the consent rule for registering for class is a royal pain in the butt and makes seniors go through unnecessary work to get the remaining classes needed for graduation.

Question
For the record, I would just like toBrightCommunications
For the record, I would just like to say that the negativity on this board regarding Madison does not stem from people who "can't make the cut." It stems from people who are sick of being treated like dirt from their professors and other classmates. I have a 4.0 gpa, and had no trouble whatsoever "making the cut" in any of my courses because all of them were ridiculously easy (and no, I didn't take any of the stereotypically easy courses, I took stuff that just happened to be taught by incompetent prof's).

There are several reasons why UW doesn't live up to its name. First is the academics. I had attended another UW school before coming here, and agree Madison is much, much easier. Take finals week for instance - study days? We never had those at my old school. If you get days to study for finals and still can't pass your classes, well, then, you must be an idiot.

Second, UW's prof's are not really that prestigious. I mean, yeah they all have good backgrounds, but did they mention that TA's teach all of the courses? TA's aren't incredibly competent. So you're paying all of this money basically to get taught by someone your own age.

Third, the politics running through this place are just stupid. People get in and are treated well whose parents were alum and so forth. If you think each student is treated equally at this school, you are crazy. At any rate, if you want to attend a school were life is nothing but a huge drinking bash with a bunch of lowlifes who think they're awesome cuz they just go to Madison, be my guest. However, if you actually want an education, go to a different school that isn't so messed up.

Question
I think a lot of the negativity onQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I think a lot of the negativity on this board aimed at UW Madison is from (mainly) Wisconsin Students who either cannot handle the university's academics ( and blame "bureaucracy" or "feeling like a number", or "UW dosen't live up to its reputation"). Most likely a lot of people relize how average they are compared to the demands of the scholl and fellow classmates. Success at UW, like real life, is dependent on one's ability to distinguish oneself and rely on personal ability. If one can be successful at an institution the size ( and with the reputation and demands) of UW one is prepared to take life head on. I think the majority of the criticism toward UW (or many other great schools) is mostly from people who simply cannot make the cut. That being said UW is a great school with a great reputation and in terms of tuition cost ( for in-state students) one of the best values in the country.
