The University of Wisconsin - Madison

Even though I aced high school and MATC, UW-Madison was still a challenge - getting a degree is straight forward but if you want to be at the top of your engineering class it will take a lot of work/frustration and lack of sleep. Grades are based off of how well you do compared to everyone else instead of a pre-defined grading system. You sometimes will have no clue where you stand until you get your grades at the end of the semester. However, you will definitely graduate with a good degree and a wealth of knowledge. The engineering career services are a bonus to help with getting an internship (which I highly recommend) and eventually permanent job placement.

Class sizes are enormous (300+) when you first start out but once you get further in your degree they narrow down to 20-40 students/class. Teachers can be hard to get in contact with sometimes just because there are so many people and/or they have other research crap they are involved with.UW-Madison is an extremely nice facility that provides the freedom to explore numerous areas of interest, whether academic, extra-curricular or social (especially if you like drinking).
