Listen up, because I'm going to tell youBrightOther
Listen up, because I'm going to tell you the straight truth about VCU: if you are a xenophobic kid from the suburbs, egocentric or just generally "normal", you will not like this school. We're a community of artists, musicians and general other bohemian denizens. It is common to see kids hotboxing the storage closets in the residence halls or snorting lines of adderall off textbooks at 5AM. If you can't stand cigarettes then don't come here because everyone smokes.

Concerning safety everyone gets their panties in a bunch because Richmond has a high crime rate. Listen, even though there are various hobos milling about the city generally speaking they keep to themselves or are at least cordial. Stay near campus and don't go on the other side of Broad at night and you should be fine.If you were that one kid in highschool who didn't really mesh with the crowd because you were interested in other things and were just fundamentally different from your peers, you will love this school with your heart and soul. If you have an ego and consider yourself "too good" to live in shitty housing, talk to "sketchy" people with tattoos and piercings or if you can't deal with "obnoxious" art students, then just bite the damn bullet and go to JMU with all the other kids just like you.

Question
Everything I rated is for the School ofBrightSociology
Everything I rated is for the School of Mass Communications. After having been completely disheartened and beat down, I decided to change my major in my senior year. A handful of teachers have been excellent and caring but most of them assign ridiculous busy work and pointless activities. VCU should be called Hassle University. Every. Single. Time. I wanted or needed to do something they "required," an impossible hassle ensued. If you work full-time, forget VCU. Either go to another school or try to work part-time. With the amount of classes they don't offer, you'll never get through it in 4 years. Most of my friends have been here for 4+ years because of the lack of availability of core classes required to graduate. Just another VCU hassle! My advisors in the School of Sociology, however, have been readily available and so much more helpful than any advisor I spoke to in Mass Comm. If you're in the school, beware that you have to apply to get in to MASC 203. Yeah, you have to apply to get into a prerequisite. I found that utterly ridiculous and unnecessary. And they don't tell you that until after the deadline. So just a heads up! And if you decide to major in Mass Comm, get used to every single teacher telling you that you won't get a job, you'll be fired from every job you do get and you'll only make 15,000 a year. I heard that in my first Mass Comm class and most classes since. I finally took it as a warning and left the school.

Question
The location of the campus is nice.Quite BrightComputer Engineering
The location of the campus is nice. It is in the middle of richmond and there is always something to do here. you mostly will never get bored in the city other than the fact that the city is like a 8 hr city unlike chicago or nyc which are 24 hr cities. I thought the coursework was gonna be easy because it is a average college. However, the courses are very hard and require a lot of studying so dont keep ur hopes high that vcu is gonna be easy becuase its not.
