VCU is a zoo.Quite BrightOther
VCU is a zoo. They have way too many students and not enough teachers, advisors, classes, etc. They have raised the tuition more than a grand and things have gotten more chaotic and unorganized. If you want to attend a college that has no intention of actually helping you succeed, this is your school. Don't expect getting responses or even feedback from your academic or financial advisor. Simply put, they accepted a lot more students than the university is fit to handle and just did not want to hire more faculty to correspond to the number of its students. Not worth the money! Go to a more respected college where you will get what you're paying for!!

Avoid VCU like herpes. The school stinks. I can't imagine why it is even a four year college. Only MCV is worth the money. VCU is a total joke of a college. Any four year school in Virginia would be a better choice.

Question
VCU is interesting in the way that someQuite BrightUndecided
VCU is interesting in the way that some departments are outright amazing, while others are lacking somewhat. However, there is so much culture and diversity here, whatever it is lacking it is made up with the abundant resources of the city of Richmond. Richmond is a little hidden gem in Virginia. You would not expect a city that was once the capital of the south to be so culturally profound, especially in the way of art & counterculture. When I say "counterculture", I mean that in a positive light--the city is full of interesting and colorful characters, independent musicians, and is well known for it's metal and punk scenes--the bands Gwar, Avail, Lamb of God, and Municipal Waste are all from and still reside (to the best of my knowledge) in the area.

If you like to wear pink polo shirts with the collars popped, or your favorite store is hollister, then it's true--you might feel a little out of place among the blue hair, dreadlocks, piercing, tattoos, and eccentric ideas towards fashion you will encounter, but it is unlikely that anyone would act hostile towards you. Even those who appear "normal" will most likely be more creative than the average person.

The environment here really does foster creativity & thinking for yourself. Not every professor is outstanding (yes, some are downright horrible) but that's any university. My experiences here truly changed me for the better, and I met so many amazing people (both in the school and just citizens of the city). I got a lot out of my classes, and really enjoyed most of them. If you are a creative individual looking for a diverse school in a culturally-rich area, then VCU is your school.
