Positive Negative Neutral Advice
In the past, when I transferred from aSuper BrilliantPsychology
In the past, when I transferred from a private school to a public high school, I was alienated by high school staff nurturing others who did not have to work for what they had. It is very safe to say that I was bummed out by the time I graduated from high school.

Yet, the only reason why I worked hard in high school was because I wanted to attend the University of Houston- University Park. Since I was never discriminated against, I was finally free to act as myself in an independent, yet very nurturing environment. The lack of discrimination is due to the fact that the University of Houston- University Park is the most diverse universities in the nation.

I learned about the qualities of the University of Houston, such as the 10% Psychology program in the nation, #2 English Creative Writing Graduate Program in the nation (#1 among Ph.D. programs), and many other qualities. Soon, universities like University of Texas- Austin and Texas A&M University did not look so pretty after all. Finally, here was a school that did not just test your academic ability, but your ability to understand life.

Now I have always heard from MANY people degrading the University of Houston because it is around third ward. Well, third ward means that African Americans are predominant, so these people so many inferences to racism. The truth is, if you give the third ward community a chance, these people will give you the respect you deserve.

And on that note, here is one very interesting FACT from these opinions about the crime at the University of Houston: you are 2-8 times safer at the University of Houston than you are at the University of Texas. Here is my source:

and if you want to look at other schools of interest, you may do so on this site.So there you have it. No matter how much oppression or hype you have taken in life, there is good probability that the University of Houston will give you a helping hand in academics and life.

Question
I attended UH my freshman year.Quite BrightEconomics
I attended UH my freshman year. Id have to say that for certain people its the ideal university, yet for others, like myself, it leaves much to be desired. I was a UH Ambassador, which means basically that I was a student recruiter who gave tours and went to area high schools to promote the university and make it more attractive to prospective students; so Id like to at least think that I know what Im talking about. My honest opinion of the university is that it provides a quality education at an affordable price. But, as with anything else in life, you get what you pay for. If you are living at home and commuting, if you cant otherwise afford to go to school, and/or are working to pay for school yourself the university is perfect for you. They give out a ton of financial aid, provide a good education, and if you dont mind frustration from traffic to get there and finding a parking spot once you do, the school provides a great opportunity. If youre planning to live on campus and want to have a real college experience, this is NOT the place for you. I lived on campus and found that there was very little to do, especially at night because everyone commutes. While the campus itself is fairly nice, the surrounding area is GHETTO, and at night isnt always safe. Like any college, your experience will be what you make of it; and in all fairness to the school I got discouraged by the surroundings early on and now I wish I'd been more postive. But my advice is to make sure that the school fits what you want/need; and that you'd fit in there before deciding on UH.
