Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I am currently working as an engineer inBrightMechanical Engineering
I am currently working as an engineer in Reliant Energy. I graduated from UH with my BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1999. I got admitted to UT-Austin and Texas A&M after high school, but I attended UH, so I can help out my family with our sandwich shop. UH is a very bad school. The cirriculum for mechanical engineering is totally useless in the industry, and I found out that students from other universities like Lamar and South West Texas are learning more than UH, and so, they are doing better in the workforce! The professors at UH are very arrogant and condecending. They put students down by talking down on them like Lienhard, Eichorn, and Shamsundar. These professors should be hanged for how they treated the students. I was admitted to a good MS program after getting my BS, and Eichorn destroyed my MS studies with Georgia Tech because he found out that I got admitted and he called the graduate advisor there to destroy me, which he did. Now my hopes are gone because of him. Unfortunately, after that, I wasn't able to attend the university, and I lost hope in getting my MS. I hate UH and will NEVER donate any money to this pathetic school, so for you out there, better watch out the university before saying too many good things.

Question
I am a Freshman Out-of-state Student at theQuite BrightUndecided
I am a Freshman Out-of-state Student at the University of Houston. The reason I choose the University of Houston was because I wanted to attend a school away from home, but a school that I could CALL HOME. After researching several schools, with only an ACT of 21 (most Divsion 1 schools look for an ACT of 22), writing a letter to the school as to why I should be in their busines program, I then was accepted into the University of Houston.

I was not comfortable enough with being accepted, I HAD to visit the school before making my final decision.

After visiting University of Houston during their Student Orientation and seeing the enviroment of the school, I realized that this was the school for me. Everyone seemed to be very knowledgable and helpful.

Positives: Environment, Appearance, Safety
Negatives: Cost(Out-of-state students pay roughly $20,000/yr - Tuition, fees, room/board, books, etc)I now live in the Moody Towers on campus and I enjoy taking advantage of all the University has to offer.

Question
UH offered an outstanding honors program and aOther
UH offered an outstanding honors program and a large school/city experience. Although I was relatively immature in my social and academic approach to college, UH's honors program faculty personnel (esp. Dr. Estes) and the commitment of some of the student development staff (esp. Dr. Douglass, Mr. Bridges and Ms. Anzivino-Stephens) supported my transition to becoming a successful individual. I was not very pleased with the administrative nature of being a number in a crowd and having to deal with staff who had been abused by long lines of tired and rude students before me and were therefore not very approachable by the time my turn came, but I enjoyed the heck out of being one of the relatively few students living on campus who benefitted from the plethora of student development funds contributed by the commuter students who did not partake of the programming opportunities.
