This school is supposed to be diverse.Physics
This school is supposed to be diverse. the irony is that i felt more distrust for foreigners than any other school that i have attended (UTA,HBU,ACC,Delmar,TSU). although, i was born in the USA. maybe, this is an indicator of the discontent of the student body. in my upper division physics class, my professor from NASA complained for 30 minutes during his lecture that the Japanese were stupid and that he could prove it scientifically. one of his NASA assisstants told me that i was a spy. i'm a korean born in the USA, not japanese. i'm not aware of any space programs in Korea. ironically, my friend of 20 years is the son of an astronaut. his mother mentioned how close the NASA community is. my family donates over half a mil to A&M. is that what spies do?

Question
Do not go there!Quite BrightComputer Science
Do not go there!
I can make a long list of reasons why you should not go there. I hope somebody told me these before I went there at the first place.

Basically,
1) Class room SUCKS big time. Bad instructor, bad teaching method, bad assignments, too many irrelevant rules, no english speaker.

2) CS dept core class requirement is the worse structure I even seen, the lame rules limit your choice to only classes that really really SUCKS and never been used in real life... nobody want to take it .. get real!.. I think they changing sth but still not meet the minimum standard other univ do.

3) Pre-requisite classes? c'mon, they need all of students even you have solid CS background to take exact class names before taking credit classes toward degree, otherwise, you need to take them here. And they are too many! and almost all of them are also SUCKS, bad teaching. Somebody spent 4 yrs just to finish his master degree. This sins will go to all of committees for this.

4) Admin...ahh... they have some serious issues about "service mind". They think students are homeless who need your money?

5) Bad environment, unsafe, worse dorm ever - check cougar place (they lure all new students to go there first), no good food around, etc.The only thing good in UH is research side, but however, if the univ cannot create a good environments and good teaching method... closed the department and only develop a research institute instead! SERIOUSLY!

Question
UH is continually ranked at #1 and #2Quite BrightSchool of Information
UH is continually ranked at #1 and #2 for being the most diverse school in the nation, and it shows. Coming here will expose you to plenty of culture, and new ideas. Originally, this was not my first choice of school, but I could never see myself leaving, because I love this place. I'm determined to be accepted for graduate school here, just so I can continue after I graduate!

This university having a commuter reputation is a bit ridiculous. Let's look at facts here. The University of Houston has 12% of its student population living on-campus. Let's look at a school that DOESN'T have a commuter reputation, the University of Texas at Austin. How many students live on-campus there? 15%. The percentages are comparable, and the reputation is just flat out unwarranted.

Someone can be unsociable or a loner at any university. UH has incredibly fun student events, many famous speakers, music, and sporting events to attend. I've had a blast living on-campus here, and encourage anyone who wants the true university experience to move here if accepted.

Go Coogs!
