Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I did not have the best experience atBrightFinance
I did not have the best experience at the university, only due to the fact that I stayed cooped up in my room all the time. Social life here is what you make it. I was outraged by all of the negative comments, that I do not feel were deserved. People's complaints were not so much about why they couldn't get a job once they left school, or why they couldn't get into grad school. I saw more complaints about location, and social life. It's obvious to me that the students are more concerned with having fun, and living in a good area, than the actual education. I also read complaints about leniency, but as adults you have to learn responsibility. One can not be upset for not being given passes throughout his/her education. You earn your grades here weather that be through study or cheating. Cheating is common at any university. I plan to finish my degree plan, and apply for grad school. With all of the internships available in the city, I can not begin to understand how a finance major could complain. You go to college to get an education and a good job, and that's what you will get at the University of Houston.

Question
UH is a university open to students thatBiology
UH is a university open to students that are ambitious and self-motivated. Opportunities for extra-cirricular activities such as student government, independent research and special programs like the Honors College are open to students who prove themselves. You are rewarded on the quality of your work-not your blood line. Students here form a meritocracy not an aristocracy.

Question
I've been in the military for some timeQuite BrightFinance
I've been in the military for some time and traveled a lot. People here are no different, I actually feel more comfortable seeing the cultural diversity. Some places you go to in Houston are segregated by choice and you might see less than 10% diversity. I think a lot of people in Houston have a shield and tend to mind their business but a simple smile and hello usually disarms them.

I love the education I'm receiving but the days of used books are coming to an end. Most classes I've taken needed online homework or activity access so the book was worthless. Hell the access cost more than the book. I don't kid myself in this schools purpose. To collect as much as possible from its students, but it's the same everywhere with higher education. I plan on receiving my degree in the shortest time I can get it, but I do find it discouraging that people expect a Van Wilder experience and prestige for the school. It's not a second choice for all of us, and city life is what you make it. If more people initiated conversations instead of having others start it first then they might find this place a little friendlier.
