Texas Tech University

I transferred to Texas Tech from Baylor University one and a half years ago. At first, I was uncertain as to whether I would enjoy Tech, especially coming from a smaller university, where I seemingly knew everyone. From day one, though, I have met the most friendly people in West Texas. Both the students and faculty have impressed alike. When I got lost on my first day of school, one student offered to escort me to my building, even though he was headed the complete opposite direction. Other students were just as nice. Two girls in my math class offered to give me a tour of the campus. The teachers have also been wonderful. I am a math major with a minor in civil engineering. And every professor I have had has are very knowledgeable and all other faculty members I have talked to- in the Arts & Sciences Department, the English building, Financial Aid, etc. all treat the students with respect and plenty of PATIENCE. The only real complaint I have about Tech is the location. Lubbock is a good city, but there is not a whole lot that one can do here for extended periods of time. Plus, the weather is extremely inconstant. One day, last February, I saw some girls, sunbathing in a nearby park, and that very night, it we had a mild snowstorm. Very strange. In conclusion, I would have to say that I have learned so much from attending Texas Tech. The core curriculum is fair and well-rounded, the people are good-natured, and all the teachers I have met are good at what they do and are truly desire to see their students succeed. I wouldn't trade my experience at Tech for the world. (Ok, I know that sounds cheesy- but it's true.)
