Great school.Quite Bright
Great school. Lubbock is at least 5 hours away from Dallas or Houston but having said that the town itself is pretty large, comprising of 200,000 people. It's very much a campus town, lots of things to do, Texas Tech rules. So, even though Lubbock is far away from major cities and there is nothing to do outside of it, Lubbock itself offers enough to make for a good college/ academic experience. Also, Texas Tech seems to be an up and coming major university, you see it everywhere, with the quality of students getting better and better every year, with various departments getting ranked, there is a lot of enthusiasm all around the campus.

Question
Before committing to aOther
Before committing to a major, students should get out and see the real world. They need an idea of what they want to be and what that job really is like. Texas Tech was a great experience. I loved Lubbock and I will send my children there when they are ready for college.

Question
Tech has alot of wonderful research projects underwayBrightElectrical Engineering
Tech has alot of wonderful research projects underway in areas ranging from childhood developement to an extensive Pulsed power research facilty.

My Advice:
Visit to see if Tech is too isolated for you (not just Double T Days)
Find people in your area of interest and ask them about the professors in their dept
Consider the fact that Tech has a Law School, a Medical school and now even a Vet School(in the making)

Tech Alumni give more on a percentage basis than any other Texas University.Good luck to you all.
