Everyone at A&M is really closeminded. Not so brightElectrical Engineering
Everyone at A&M is really closeminded. I came here expecting this to be one of the best times of my life, but I honestly wish I had gone to the University of Texas instead. I take weekend trips out to Austin because there is so much to do out there. College station just doesn't do it for me. Hopefully I will be able to transfer next semester.

Question
A&M is a good school that has aBrightEngineering Department
A&M is a good school that has a bad reputation for being close minded and ultra conservative. There are many students that fit that mold but that doesn't mean that alternative viewpoints are suppressed here. This campus has an active debate over almost everything and it's a great place to grow as a student and a person.

Question
There are some people that think that TexasAverageEducation
There are some people that think that Texas A&M is the best place next to heaven, and then there are the few (like myself) who think that it is closer to hell on earth. I've never met a bunch of more closeminded, petty, tradition-happy bunch of people in all my life. The students here are VERY conservative--which means very little tolerance for non bible-thumping Christian types (i'm Catholic and even *I* don't feel like I fit in), homosexuals, liberal political views, etc.

And besides that, College Station has got to be the most dull city on earth. I lived here as a regular "citizen" before becoming a student, and it is such an isolated and lonely place to be. There's very little in the way of cultural offerings. The town centers around the university, so if you're not into Aggie things, you might as well be dead.I have to say that i'm not a native Texan, so there's a lot about this state that i just don't "get"---Texas A&M University is definitely the biggest thing i don't get, however.
