Opportunities are abundant.Quite BrightChemical Engineering
Opportunities are abundant. Need to take initiatives to get what you want (academic, social, etc...). ver quiet town environment, condusive to serious study (excluding thur, fri nite parties.). Conservative atmosphere may be an understatement and as such, may not be suitable depending on individual convictions and priorities, temperance is best. Profs' personalities vary from totally awesome to down right awful. overall, great place to learn how to survive independantly. Grow up. This is College.

Question
Attending A&M is all about fit.Business - Management and Administration
Attending A&M is all about fit. It fit me well at the time I attended. The attributes of A&M that come to mind are:

--Highly structured
--Task and lecture-based
--Conservative
--Small country town atmosphere
--Texas-centric
Because of these attributes, A&M tends to accomdate students without a great deal of worldly experience (e.g., those from small towns and conservative families) that want to learn specific skills (e.g., engineering, agriculture economics, accounting). It prepares its students VERY WELL to perform the "tasks" required of an entry level job. This is a very positive attribute because most employers want young employees to follow instructions and successfully perform specific tasks.

I would suggest that students follow the instructional nature of an A&M undergraduate degree with a more general and well rounded graduate education.

For me, my experience at A&M was great for that particular time in my life. I needed structure and left to my own devices in a more liberal academic atmosphere I would not have performed as well. After my time at A&M, I spent several years in a major accounting firm, followed by working abroad with the same firm and finally a graduate degree at a more "well known" university. These subsequent experiences taken as a whole taught me to "think" more creatively in the business world. When combined with the A&M experience which taught me to "do" very well, I feel pretty satisfied with my overall education.

Question
Let me start off by saying that TexasBrightEconomics
Let me start off by saying that Texas A&M is a top notch university in terms of education I am very pleased how hard the instructors push you. If you are interested in the Economics Dept. it is also far more structured and demanding than comparable schools. The problem with this school is the extremely conservative views but of course this school is know for that. You have the student group called the “Young Conservative Texans” which are one step above the KKK and the students whose general attitude is if they wanted diversity they would have gone to another school. As far as entertainment there is none in this town so unless you want to hang out at places like the Dixie Chicken (cowboy boots and hat) than you are looking at a 1 ½ hour drive to Houston or Austin. This is a country town where people actually drive under the speed limit and 70% of vehicles have a George “W” sticker on it (don’t know what’s worse) so if this is your cup of tea then HOWDY!
