It was my understanding that A&M had movedSuper BrilliantAnimal Studies
It was my understanding that A&M had moved beyond its agrarian roots and, in some respects, I suppose that is true. However, being the first in my family to go to college, I was expecting to escape the redneck habits and lifestyle so pervasive in rural Texas. I was mistaken. A&M is inundated with outdated cowboy philiosophy and almost completely devoid of the intellectual challenges I expected to face. There are, of course, challenging courses and programs but on a day-to-day basis you can expect to be met with carbon copies of white urban cowboys with limited capacity for abstract thought. In short, it lives up to its stereotype.

Question
Texas A&M is a great university.Psychology
Texas A&M is a great university. As a first generation Aggie, who wanted to attend UT all throughout high school, I knew I made the right choice as soon as I got to A&M. I didn't know anything about the traditions until fish camp & orientation, but I loved them right away. A&M is not for everyone, but it's a lot more diverse than many people think. The student body may be made up of mostly conservative Texans, but you will find much more than just a bunch of cowboys if you give it a chance. I am now a grad student at a smaller Texas university & can truly appreciate how unique A&M is. When you walk around A&M's campus, everyone is friendly & says 'howdy' as they pass. When you see an Aggie somewhere outside of College Station, you will immediately make a new friend/job contact. Those are definitely things you will not experience at another college. If I could do my undergraduate years all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I had fun, made lifelong friends, & learned a lot of information that has helped me in grad school & will continue to help me find a job. Gig 'Em!
