Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The Academic Advisers in Engineering are extraordinary.BrightMechanical Engineering
The Academic Advisers in Engineering are extraordinary. If you prepare yourself with questions they will take the time to help you through the solutions. Honor is very important at A&M. I have found that if faculty members or students say they are going to do something you can pretty much depend on it getting done.

Question
Not to dig the "positive" reviews, but theyQuite BrightGeography and Geosciences
Not to dig the "positive" reviews, but they were probably given by the so-called rednecks, close-minded wahoos all the negative reviews were mentioning. This school is GREAT for people who are from Bellevue or Fayetteville or some similar sized cities. To them, it's the "big city!". But if you actually want a college experience different from your high school experience, this is not the place for you. If you don't do all the crazy traditions (or as I call them, "cult rituals"), they label you a "2%"er. UT could care less if you do their traditions, they are just content to give you an education. Following traditions should be of your own choosing.

It was hard to make friends as they all believe there's nothing better than being an Aggie. Fortunately for me, I was able to find 4 good friends who are devout Aggies but are accepting of me not being one.

As for academically, I would say it is sub par when it comes to Geography or any of the Social Sciences. Of course I did not know this whilst in school. It was only after I graduated and looked through other school's curriculum that I realized what a terrible education I got. This is not to say I didn't have some wonderful classes and professors that I learnt much from. But the Geography program as a whole is SAD.

I'm now teaching a college course for a community college in Houston and their GIS program is 10 times the one A&M offered. Just understand that this is 8 years later so the program might have changed. One of my former student finished his A.S. and has transfered to A&M into their Geography program and has said that it is quite good. So do your research thoroughly before deciding.I have attended UT, Houston Community College, and A&M. If I had to do it all over, I would not have transfered from UT.

Question
Texas A&M is where i belong.Economics
Texas A&M is where i belong. At first I couldn't decide between the University of Texas or the University of Virginia, but I went on and visited the TAMU campus one weekend before applications were due. I fell in love quickly. Texas A&M is a unique instituion that not only challenges you but also provides a healthy environment for aspiring thinkers to work in. Everyone is helpful and nice because people are here for a reason, not just because they couldn't get into another school.
