I went to a small private school fromBrightCommunications
I went to a small private school from k-12th grade, where the teachers were engaging and cared about each student and I was evaluated on my actual knowledge of the material, not what I had memorized and filled in on a scantron. Texas A&M is pretty much the opposite, with scantrons and monotony abound. The majority of my classes have consisted of a professor reading directly off powerpoint slides (which are sometimes provided) for an hour and a half, and three scantron tests throughout the semester. Talk about engaging. Seeing as though I know how to read, I usually didn't go to class and taught it to myself on my own time, and usually made A's or B's on tests. Many times however, professors will ask questions such as "On this day, I talked about my dog. What was his name?" as though I came to college to learn about my professor's dog. I feel like I have wasted 3 years of my life and thousands of dollars because I'd rather learn and know about the material than memorize notes and fill in scantrons, but that's just me. Maybe I missed something important though, because a lot of people seem to like it a WHOLE WHOLE lot, many of them because everyone from their great-grandfather to their brother went here. The majority of students are very closed-minded, conservative, Christian, and all somewhat eerily look alike and dress the same. The town isn't much better. I've never encountered a place so...uninspiring, charmless, and stale. I've tried for 3 years to like it but I've never been so bored in my life, and no longer being able to stand it, I'm withdrawing for semester and finishing my degree elsewhere. But hey, if you love tradition and uniformity, if you're an auditory learner and a good memorizer, and if you love George W. Bush and Jesus so much so that you MUST let everybody know, then Texas A&M University is the place for you.

I can't stand it in College Station. It seems like there is a tradition for everything, and like two of them are really interesting. We can't beat anyone in football either. I have made some good friends but overall this place is by far the worst of the big 12schools i visited after applying to a&m.

I have had a great experience at Texas A&M, and the school spirit grows more and more everyday. The people here are great and you couldn't find a student body with as much pride as they have here. Academics are good and they are very helpful with preparing you for the future.
