The University is too big for a smallQuite Bright
The University is too big for a small school atmosphere. However, if someone is looking for an Urban campus, JWU is for you. there is no fotball but the basketball team has been fun to watch now that they are winning - unfortunately, there aren't enough people who want to leave the dorms to go to a game.

Question
I would not be where I am todayBusiness - Management and Administration
I would not be where I am today without Johnson & Wales University. I traveled 3,000 miles away from my family to attend JWU, and I will be forever thankful that I made that decision. I found a wonderful "family" in Providence and was given the opportunity to become a leader and professional in my field.

I was involved in NSO's, Student Government, Residential Life, Collegiate Ambassador Team, President's Leadership Council, Greek Life and many other campus leadership positions. How could anyone say that JWU didn't give them the skills they needed for the future when you have so many options to develop yourself into a community leader??

The path to success starts at JWU...all you need is the drive, ambition and intelligence to take the first step. And I can assure you that the first step is not to publicly disgrace the University whose name will be on your degree.

While I was at JWU (Providence Campus) I had the wonderful opportunity to be a Resident Director in the Res Life Department. (I was the manager of several halls and thier RA staff.) I held this position on both the business and culinary campus' and I can assure you that I have never had a dangerous or frightening experience. Providence is rated as one of the safest cities in the United States by Newsweek, and I can see why. The police force in Providence is excellent, and they work closely with the University's Safety and Security Department to ensure a safe living/learning environment for all students. I am now an administrator at another college, and I can honestly say that Johnson & Wales University has one of the safest campus' I have ever seen...and that is very impressive for a campus that is in a city. Yes, there is crime...just as you would find in any town or city...but the residents and student of JWU are kept as safe as possible and are given the opportunity to attend programs and events that will help them become more confident and "street smart" while living in a city. I come from a rural Oregon town of 4,000 people, and I felt more at home in Providence then I did back home. Most of that was due to the huge Safety and Security presence and the safety precautions taken at the residence halls. So for anyone who is thinking about going to JWU and doesn't because of safety issues, please think again!

The education that I recieved at Johnson & Wales, in and out of the classroom, was instrumental in making me the person I am today. I am a well trained professional, and a leader in my workplace. I am confident in saying that I owe those skills to Johnson & Wales University and the people I met there.

I encourage anyone who is looking at JWU as an educational option to visit the campus and meet the people who make it what it is. If you don't like Providence, DON'T STOP THERE! Johnson & Wales has many campus' of different sizes and in different locations across the country, each with a different community and "personality". I gaurantee that one of them is exactly the right fit for you. Each of my friends from college are working in successful careers, doing something they love and are well trained for. We are very proud to say that we are alumni of Johnson & Wales University. If you decide to not only attend JWU, but take advantage of everything that it offers, I know that in 4 years you will say the same.
