Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Temple is a pretty good school.Super Brilliant
Temple is a pretty good school. I originally went to the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon but I didn't really like Pittsburgh so I came to Temple. It's the city school for my area and I know plenty of people who go there. Scholastically I've been pretty unimpressed. I think that the curriculum isn't all that intense. I'd like to see that taken care of. Otherwise, Temple is trying to make a name for itself so there is a ton of building going on. Over the next 5-10 years, don't be surprised to see Temple's name become nationally (and possibly internationally) renowned. It's on the "up and up" so a degree from Temple will have a lot more pull than one might expect. Also, expect it to get harder and harder to get into Temple. Now the really negative stuff: Don't step foot of campus, don't expect to get special treatment, and don't expect the much from the administration. The bureaucracy at Temple is worse than the US government. Everything is a form. Look into the Honors program if you want a more caring and supportive staff. Overall Temple has both good and bad points but it's getting better every year.

Question
In my experience, there have been some extremelyBrightEducation
In my experience, there have been some extremely approachable and friendly professors who really do care about the students. Then of course there are some who put on the facade of being friendly and approachable, but take a week to reply to emails, and clearly sound angry when you actually do manage to get them on the phone. I would advise that when you find one or two who appear to genuinely care, that you drop by office hours, and take any additional courses you can with them. Even if you're not truly interested in what they're teaching, give these people a little extra effort so that they will be willing to do the same for you later on should you need it. Try to stay in touch at least somewhat with the people who care about the students, because the last thing you want is for them to forget your name and face when you want them to write you a recommendation for a job, grad school, or both. Additionally, despite what anyone may tell you to frighten you about the tests you'll have to take, they're ridiculously easy, and you should be well prepared even if you only take half the courses you're supposed to before you go to take the tests.

Question
The thing about Temple is that unlike alotBrightOther
The thing about Temple is that unlike alot of other schools, everyone is looked at as the same, as college kids. The best thing I feel about Temple is that there are no class distinctions. All the kids are pretty much broke and just looking for a good time. And the kids that have money, you would never know because no one really cares about how much money anyone has. You could have roomates or best friends that get along great where one kid is from a rich neighborhood while the other isnt. Ive seen some other schools and my friends are telling me for example that "This girl never looks at me twice because I dont drive a nice car". At Temple, a girl could care less about whether you have a car or not, its all about what kind of a person you are. Everyone is very open when it comes to meeting new people and getting to know people no matter who you are. Its a very friendly, open environment to go to school in.
