NYU can be the best place in theSuper BrilliantMath
NYU can be the best place in the world, but also the worst. Don't expect to be coddled and have you hand held, but do expect the best in-college opportunities in the nation if you seek them. I had friends doing schoolyear investment banking internships at Merrill, and others working at NBC and networking with celebs at MTV. I graduated with a great GPA, and had no problem finding a finance job that paid me $95,000 my first year out of college--I was a Math major in CAS. I have many friends who did the same.

But on the other hand, I knew many kids who weren't as focused as me and weren't all too happy. Instead of using the city's resources like some of us did they moped about not having a perfectly collegial atmosphere and football games on the weekends. All that said, NYU can open a ton of doors for you that couldn't be opened at any other school in the nation, but at the same time, if you're not so focused and want more of a traditional college environment, NYU may not be for you.

Question
Great undergrad experience.Political Science
Great undergrad experience. NYU gives one an amazing academic environment, the atmosphere at this school builds character on a level far above any college in my opinion. The school is in the best NYC neighborhood (bars, clubs, cafe's, restuarants, theaters-you name it, NYU students have it at their doorstep), and the schoool's vast resources gives students a chance to make the most of living in Manhattan. NYU would be an excellent school even if it were in the middle of rustic country, but the location just makes it that much better, and the experience so unique. That being said, to really make the most of the NYU experience, I would recommend living in dorms and NOT commuting (I was a resident but knew people who commuted, almost all hated it since it was like they were really not part of the school). Don't get me wrong, NYU is great academically, and the name of the degree can carry one a long way, but the full benefit of the NYU experience cannot be gained only in the classroom; living on campus and making Greenwich Village home will infinitely enchance one's time at NYU. I am confident that those who take advantage of the tremendous opportunities NYU offers will not be disppointed in going to the greatest university in the greatest city.

Question
NYU was awesome!English
NYU was awesome! Hands down the best college in the world. I loved my 4 years there...if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have it any other way. I found my classes to be very intellectually stimulating, that combined with the plethora of activities available at NYU make me glad I went to school there.

The dorms at NYU put most schools to shame, your own bathrooms, spacy, and being in NYC you can get stuff delivered to you..they just rock. The location can't be beat (Columbia is in Harlem), I can't even think of being bored once during my 4 years of college.I majored in English, but work in investment banking on Wall St. now. My field of work is very unrelated to what I studied in college, but an NYU liberal arts education and the experience of living in Manhattan prepared me extremely well by giving me the skills to think in various situations in a way I wouldn't have before college. The NYU experience, while not for everyone, cannot be topped for those who chose to undertake it...the way I see it, this is what college ought to be like.
