If you are looking for a traditional collegePolitical Science
If you are looking for a traditional college experience, athletic contests, parties, a campus etc., think twice about coming to NYU. If on the other hand you enjoy being independant, do not need to feel connected to the student body, and enjoy city life, you will probably enjoy NYU. I enjoy city life, but have found the lack of unity in the student body, and the academic experience to be sub-par. My experience at NYU has not been terrible, but certainly has not been worth the exorbitant tuition, or four years of my life.

Question
Be sure you know what you're doing whenBrightUndecided
Be sure you know what you're doing when you decide to come to this school. Make sure that you like the city; not just to visit, but to LIVE. And get here when everyone else gets here. I got here a week later than everyone else and they already had bunches of little cliques, so I felt pretty isolated for most of the time. And don't come into this school expecting anything to be easy. Everyone says the "Columbia rejects" come here, and that may be true in some cases, but for the most part, people here are very bright and quite competitive.

The education is good, the bureaucracy was terrible.Quite BrightJournalism
The education is good, the bureaucracy was terrible. Hard to get the courses you need. Staff was often rude, unhelpful and unresponsive. It's hard to believe you pay $40,000 and department secretary's won't return a phone call. The French department was the worst- they just didn't seem to care if I got the credit I was due or not.
