I'm now a Sophomore with serious thought ofBrightArt & Design Department
I'm now a Sophomore with serious thought of transfering out. After being there for a year, i've realized I don't like art students and some of the kids are hippies which I don't like. It's too cold and far away from Jersey. The town sucks and the people in the towns are sort of hick-ish. However, I loved the small campus size but I want a campus that isn't on a mountain and has more people and in a city or big town that actually has places to go. The parties are limited too. The Art & Design is very good as well as the Engineering, but they don't have the advertising/marketing courses I want. I want a city that's not almost an hour 1/2 away and there is life outside of the university...which there really isn't much unless you go to Hornell and that place has nothing except a Wal-Mart (oh wow...) If you like being in the middle of nowhere and freezing winters then you should go here. I am used to suburbia and a ton of more people around me so I don't like this type of environment.

Question
Alfred University is an AWESOME school! When IQuite BrightAccounting
Alfred University is an AWESOME school! When I first visited, I just fell in love with AU. The campus is absolutely beautiful and the faculty, staff and students were all so friendly and welcoming, they really did their best to make you feel right at home. At AU your not just a number. Professors know you by name, often times they have cookouts or dinners at their houses for students. The faculty at AU is so friendly and helpful. They really care about you and they want you to do well, so they have lots of office hours, study sessions, one-on-one meetings, if you have and questions for need help. Although AU is a smaller school, it doesn't necessarily feel like it. It has lots of "large university" resourses. Its easy to meet other students; going to parties, joining intercollegiate or intramural sports as well as other clubs/organizations and activities on campus will help you meet people who like the same things you do. The school provides lots of stuff for students to do on campus, different bands, comedians, speakers, etc, because it is rural and at least 20 min away from the nearest town with stuff to do. The small town atmosphere really brings a sense of community to the school though. I've only been at Alfred one, but I have truely enjoyed myself thus far and I am so excited for the upcoming years. If your at all interested in Alfred, you should at least come look at the school and maybe stay overnight.

Question
This is a kick ass school.History/Histories (art history/etc.)
This is a kick ass school. Students are creative, smart and now how to have a good time. The teachers are involved and take the time to get to know their students. Students that take advantage of their college experience will do very well at Alfred. Lazy students that do not take their education seriously will hate it.
