Rutgers is the typeQuite BrightEnglish
Rutgers is the type of university that leaves you alone and lets you decide what you will or will not make of your experience. I found this to be anxiety-inducing in the first year of school but came to appreciate the feeling of self-sufficiency by the time I graduated.

Question
In my opinion, Rutgers is worth the tuition costs.Psychology
In my opinion, Rutgers is worth the tuition costs. However, you have to be assertive with everything from getting academic help to dealing with administration. The Science and Psychology Departments have a good reputation and are cutting edge with research. So, if you plan on going to professional or grad school, get involved with your professors and do research. You have to play the game to get into grad school.

To be honest, I got my jobs through connections and chance meetings – being in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately, success seems to be10% knowledge and 90% networking/bullshitting skills in today’s world. Don’t rush to a major. Remain liberal arts and explore different careers. To get a real idea of what a field is like, get in contact with someone who actually has that job. Don’t waste time at career counseling. You want to know realistically what the job is like and what that job pays.

Finally, have fun. Don’t stress out and try to squeeze a job into college if you don’t have to. I worked my way through and even though I had no choice, it sucked. I held good jobs in the drug industry and carried a full course load at Rutgers. That led to stress and not going out too much. There will be plenty of time for work and stress after graduation. Go out, make friends, have sex, etc. It flies by. If you have any questions that you think I can help you with, shoot me an email.

Question
I attended the Rutgers College campus and graduatedBiology
I attended the Rutgers College campus and graduated with a BA in Biology in 1992. Really the only good thing about the school was low state subsidized tuition. Overall I hated attending so large a university where you are basically just a number and are taught by teaching assistants that often didn't speak fluent english. Quite often I was unable to register for classes I wanted because there was too much demand and they closed. Career counseling was terrible and didn't help me understand my personality at all - leading me to go to chiropractic professional school in a field I eventually despised. Huge classes were the rule for most of my classes. Overall I got the impression that the school was much more interested in building new buildings rather than really teaching students anything of value. If I had it to do over again I would have preferred a smaller college with better faculty. Rutgers really was a place of last resort where you get what you pay for. I have heard there are a few outstanding departments there but for most of the students attending the education is nothing special and the reputation undeserved.
