This school is far to big to accomplishNot so brightCommunications
This school is far to big to accomplish anything, period. Everyone gets lost in the system and the bureaucracy is a joke. Rutgers is, as other have mentioned, a cold place that simply focuses on churning out graduates.

In terms of social life? HA! If you dont make friends in your dorm you can kiss a social life goodbye unless you join a frat or sorority. Its impossible to make friends in class when there are over 70 people per class. Getting involved is really difficult, again because of the sheer size of the school. I made friends on my floor but even when you have established a group of friends you still feel like a faceless number. I am an extremely sociable person but it can get lonely here.

Rutgers is way too big and not to mention dangerous (new brunswick=one of the most dangerous cities in america. criminals, rapists, convicts, and gang members often sneak onto campus and make it a very very unsafe place ESPECIALLY at night)The only redeeming quality of Rutgers is its diversity and up and coming football team. I wish I had transfered when I had the chance though-I would have rather spent $50,000/year then endured Rutgers.

I wouldnt go back to rutgers if you paid me!!
half of the people here are stupid and the other half are bitter that they didnt have the cash or grades to get into a better school. social life is alright but the whole frat scene gets fucking boring after a while. new brunswick is a slum and i cant stress that enough! this is one of the most un-safe campuses in the entire world. it is surrounded by one of the poorest and most dangerous areas in the northeast. i got mugged within my first month there and have heard NUMEROUS stories about rapings and robberies.also, THIS SCHOOL IS HUGE!!! you get screwed in every sense of the word. im not sheltered and do not need my hand held, but jesus there is NO way to get anything done around here there are just TOO MANY KIDS! 50,000 to be exact. yeah, the football may be good but nothing and i mean nothing else is good about this place.

Question
The faculty are generally very helpful.History/Histories (art history/etc.)
The faculty are generally very helpful. The administration is very focused on money and not so much on the student's, the campus, or the quality of education. One can expect to encounter a good deal of bureaucracy, or what students affectionately call the "RU Screw." An advisor is a must have as it is a big university and without one a student can easily get lost in the shuffle. Work hard, go to class, get involved, de-stress yourself. If you achieve these things a student will undoubtedly succeed.
