If your an instate student then by allQuite BrightPreMed and Medical
If your an instate student then by all means go to Rutgers because it is cheap and you will get a decent education.

However keeping in mind said cheapness New Jersey is Broke and I predict one of 2 things, either tuition will rise alot (not really likely) or the campus will degrade (as the endowment here is pathetic). Also the campus is showing signs of age in some places with worn out staircases.

If your an out of state student (Like me) WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT COME HERE!!!! Plain and simple this school is not worth your time and effort. (Unless they give you a full scholarship which isn't likely to be most people).

Also if your looking to score some tail. Think again, Rutgers "scenery" (from a male perspective) is like that of Hiroshima in 1946... (aka a nuclear wasteland).

And if Partying is important to you, don't bother with Rutgers. While there are good extra curricular the Party life here is nothing special. (Try WVU it is far cheaper to go to). Also the resources here are available if you look hard. However Rutgers dumps plenty of money into a football team that is pathetic. (Honestly 100million for a new stadium that they can't fill? Really?)

Question
I was in the general honors program atBiology
I was in the general honors program at Cook College (now SEBS). The students at Cook had all graduated at the top of their class and were extremely bright and motivated but without pretentious attitudes (unlike students that I encountered from "more elite" schools when I studied abroad overseas). This school is definitely what you make of it. No hand holding here. Much like real life. Unfortunately, I don't think this school has the public reputation that it deserves. It's an excellent college with an excellent price tag if you are a resident.

I had a memorable 4 years here at Rutgers NB.
Packed with everything from fun and corny community building, to endless nights of procrastination, all-nighters, obsessive study groups, wild football games, studying at the library for 6 hours at a time, the monotonous yet addictive cafeteria food, parties and bars, the anxiety-filled attacks of college life, late-night visits to the grease trucks, getting yelled at by the RA, as well as being the yelling RA, and meeting some of the most incredible as well as some of the most intellectually challenged individuals.

Great faculty and staff, always approachable. Challenging classes, education, and overall requirements. RU has its cons of course, but nothing that its positive factors couldn't win over. The bureaucracy can get to you sometimes, and they're quite disorganized. So just be on top of your stuff at all times.

Location: New Brunswick = more of the bustling city type, with a short train ride to NYC, parking is a headache. Piscataway = quieter suburbia, safer, and car friendly

Theatres, nightlife, decent bars and restaurants, surrounding cities in the county have hidden gems worth discovering. Being from the city (New York City) I loved it. It was a refreshing change of scenery, there's actual scenery here, grass and trees! It's a fun college in the sense that there is always something going on. There are snobs, elitists, dumb butts, perfectionists, jocks, etc. at EVERY college. Pick your crowd/friends and love em. I was impressed to have found cliques of extremely bright intellectuals as well as politically active people here. Every time I go back and visit New Brunswick, I get overwhelmed by that cozy sensation that warms my heart. Ah yes... home. Makes wearing this $60 Rutgers hoodie right now priceless.
