Don't come here for science or math-related degrees if you are someone who needs help or even a little bit of attention to make it through. It's a true nightmare. I once took an intro stats course and had to wait in line for an hour to two hours to have a question answered by a GSI.
It's life an oversized factory. But if you come here for liberal arts, you'll definitely enjoy it.

“There are so many myths about coming toQuite BrightChemistry
There are so many myths about coming to U of M: that everything is hard, that it's a numbers game, etc. Well, they're right in some respects, but in the big picture, this university provides you every oppurtunity to stand out as a scholar, you just have to be willing to go the extra mile to set yourself apart from the rest.

Recommended: The Purpose of a Higher Education
“If you come to U of M, youQuite BrightSociology
If you come to U of M, you get the most of what you make out of it. This school in general has a competitive atmosphere amongst the students. However, through extracurricular activities and other social events, students eventually find their own comfortable niche. Students will have some good professors and some bad professors, but that is characteristic of most public universities. Students can always get help in their studies from tutors to GSI's to the professors. Just remember that you have to open yourself up and explore every opportunity because they won't come to you.
