Question
Actually BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERINGQuite BrightBiology
Actually BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERINGI have really enjoyed my time here. The curve works real well for me because it means I don't have to work that hard and still can get A's. For example, I did not go to half of my econ classes and did not once look at the homework and only studied for tests, and still pulled an A with room to spare. I definitely work much harder here than I did in HS and the classes are not easy, but by no means are things difficult.

Question
After one year at the University of MichiganBrightUndecided
After one year at the University of Michigan and reading your comments I am reminded by how close minded people are there, especially the in-staters. I come from one of the largest cities in this country, which is not where the majority of Michigan's students come from. I have encountered many people with very negative attitudes towards others jsut because they assume they are rich. While I don't fancy the sorority/fraternity kids either, people should come to college with a much more open mind. One of the first questions people ask is where are you from, and when they hear I am from LA they assume I am rich, which is very odd to me, as while LA is home to the rich and famous, it is also to some of the poorest neighborhoods in the country; watts and compton. I can't beleive some of the conversations I've had with Michiganders trying to convince them that first I am not rich just because I come from LA and second that not all rich people are whiny little brats. ANd no, this campus is not diverse, only people from the midwest who grew up on a farm think so. (If you are offended by this comment, go back to my first point and see how it feels to be categorized.) My high school was more diverse than this bs diversity they try to bring with affirmative action. In any case I have nothing to compare the school to so I dont hate it but neither is it perfect. However, I feel like I am stuck in LSA forever. I was thinking of Business or Architecture since these are great schools at Michigan, but since the school is so fhard it seems like I cant leave LSA EVER. I got my GPA up by .6 second semester, but I still have a lot of pre-req er weeder classes to fill which make the gpa drop. So my advice would be if you want to be in some professional school where you have to start off in LSA be prepared to never step outside (which is not such a bad thing with this 6month winter thing michigan has) or just opt for a school which is not so good. Strange thing to say, I know, but basically if I can't get in to architecture school its not like there is another option besides pretending to be interested in one of LSA's majors. At least for the B-school rejects there is always economics as a major. Something to think about. Also if you like Art, as a hobby but don't want to waste your money majoring in it, you can pretty much forget about ever taking a class here. I don't know if it's like this at other schools, but it is impossible to get int to any art classes which is veyr disapointing. It contradicts LSA's well rounded liberal arts mantra dont you think?
