Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Not very many positives I can honestly sayQuite BrightBiology
Not very many positives I can honestly say about the school, in my senior year and still thinking about transferring. Parents wouldn't let me transfer freshman year so I have been miserable ever since; tried by hardest to enjoy it but failed. The school has many problems.. If you plan on getting in a good graduate program avoid this school at all costs unless you want to spend every last minute studying and never have any free time. The classes curve to a 2.7 and most science classes are all 'premed' which is ridiculous considering that 85 percent of the class probably won't be admitted to med school bc their extremely low grades...Social life is pretty awful, you pretty much have to join greek life to make friends. People are approachable, but aren't for a good reason. I had been lied to in classes about hw do dates intentionally among many other things. Everyone on campus has this sense of entitlement that they are the best people to ever walk this earth and everyone else is some kind of second class citizen, which is reallly annoying because no one has any compassion for anyone else, and only makes friends in order to obtain some sort of self benefit. The weather is god-right awful to which just makes things even more depressing. YOu can go weeks here without a drop of sunlight. The wind chill is also terrible so it can feel a dozen degrees colder than even other regions in the midwest. SOme profeessors are decent though and there is a decent amount of research positions if you even have the time to apply yourself considering the breadth of the classwork. Good luck in college search, would not recommend if you are looking for a good social life, livable climate, decent gpa, and free time. Would apply if you are arrogant, going into a field where ungrd instution matters the most, want to live in a very hostile environment, have an easy major.

Question
This school is not for people of color.AverageBiology
This school is not for people of color. Well, not for BLACK people. It seems like every other race is accepted at this school. I think the biggest problems arise for Black students who are not product of athletic scholarships and handouts. A cluster of us worked our asses off to get here and people don't appreciate. The biggest difference is how people treat a black athlete versus a black student science major. I guess a black person who's jumping around like a money for the university is placed at a higher value than a black student in the sciences. "A nigger can't be too smart" because it's a threat. Honestly, I've had the worse time here and people wonder why the transfer rate for blacks is so high. If I could choose I would've gone to an HBCU but the University lied and yelled at this bullshit about "diversity". Where is it? Not here!! The best thing is that when something racist happens like the defacing of the ethnic departmnet in Haven hall or an extremely offensive video of Da'Quan being passed around the campus...so one cares. No one addresses it then call us (black students) crazy for feeling offended like racism doesn't motherfucking exist on this campus. I have to prove myself over and over again before I can even be considered as group partner, I've developed anxiety issues because of the blatant disrespect and ignorant comments being thrown without regard to anyone's feelings. It's amazing just how ignorant some people are...I can't. I'll graduate at this University because I'm paying money and a degree from this school looks great but these past 2 years ( and I'm sure the future 2 will be) have been absolute shit. Too many pompus rich white kids with no type of regard for those who are different than themselves...don't even try to fucking correct it.

Question
Great school in an even better city.Quite BrightMechanical Engineering
Great school in an even better city. By far the best school in Michigan and even the MSU students would tell you that up till their senior year of high school. While it is slightly more expensive that other nearby public schools, it is less than half the price of even my sister's no-name local private school, and that's before most of our ridiculous grants that Michigan just hands out to middle class students for no apparent reason. Lot's of school pride and most of the engineering school consists of friendly nerds who welcome conversation from strangers (mostly to complain about class workload).
