The University is great, although you must quicklyQuite BrightPreMed and Medical
The University is great, although you must quickly learn to take your classes seriously. Once you do that, professors are much more willing to help you, advisors are more willing to give you overrides, and you'll be much better off when applying to grad school because by then you'll have shown enough people (professors, research advisors, etc.) that you're not going to waste their time, so you'll get some great letters of recommendation. One suggestion: apply for scholarships and take the application (esp the essays) seriously. There are plenty of merit scholarships available for well-qualified students.

Great experience.Quite BrightPsychology
Great experience. Yes, I agree I paid for my degree but leaving U of M, i felt like i really learned a lot and that i was ahead of many others applying for graduate school in my psychology field bc there is renown faculty at this school, the resources are excellent and very accessible, and the college campus is seriously just perfect and awesome. coming in..i was like michigan..backup school, no biggie..but i got my ass kicked and this school really trains you well, at least for graduate or professional schools. and you leave with such pride. toodles.

Question
The University of Michigan is a great universityQuite BrightPharmacy
The University of Michigan is a great university in terms of research and in terms of opportunity. Coming from a big city, the town does feel pretty small. Other than frat parties, there isn't that much to do on the weekends. The fact that Michigan doesn't have a venue big enough to attract big music bands and speakers doesn't help it either. The people at Michigan are friendly enough and they'll help you out if they can. If you're driven and want to get involved there's very little you can't do here (academically). Add to that the fact that Michigan just got 100 million dollars for its Business School. The main problem is the outrageous tuition for out-of-state students, if this was Yale that would be one thing, but the fact that this is a state school is ridiculous. My advice is that if you want to do research and you're driven enough to do things on your own then Michigan is a good place to go, if you're more interested in a life experience changing university I suggest a big city school like NYU or USC or UCLA. Don't come here if you can't get by on your own.
