I am a first semester freshman.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I am a first semester freshman. This will also be my only semester at UMass for a bundle of reasons. I am a business school major. The school touts itself on the same level as Bentley, Babson, BU. I find that laughable. The quality of student admitted to the business school is pretty awful. The overall quality of student at the school is pretty awful. I came to college expecting to be academically and socially challenged. Instead i come here and find myself surrounded by people who shouldn't be in college. Who's entire social exsistence comes from drugs or alcohol.

The school is massive over 20,000 students. So if you want any personal attention forget it. Your classes are going to be up to 400 people at times. Buildings are old and falling apart, desks may or may not be available. The housing is pretty bad as well, people trash the dorms and it shows. The food here is blah, some stuff is good, most stuff isnt. The whole food operation is run mostly by staffers who dont understand more than 2 words of english.

Classes that your intrested in taking or need as a requirement are hard to get into because of the sheer number of people here. You probably will have to spend more than 4 years here to graduate on time. The professors here are all ultra liberal and try and get you to agree with their every view, dont dare to disagree or you'll look like a fool here.

If you want a car here good luck, the few lots available are usually overbooked and there are vigilante towing companies around campus which will tow you car at will.

The administration here is awful, if you want to get something done it could take months to years, they dont want to be bothered to do their jobs, they lose things, send you in a runaround to get an answer.

The campus is pretty scenic with rolling hills and valleys and even a nice pond. However even that seems to get ruined by the typical "umasshole" mentality that students love to apply to themselves here. I am transfering to Bentley, a real business college, which will afford me many more opporitunites and enjoyable times then this place. Please Prospective students feel free to email me with any questions.

The administration sucks so bad, it's all red tape, nobodBrightCommunications
The administration sucks so bad, it's all red tape, nobody can help you with your problem & they act like you're interrupting them. The teachers tend to use their liberal thoughts to teach to you. They try to get you to believe their political views. You definitely have to get used to the people... its a very liberal school. Because we're in MA, there's a lot of massholes... people will avoid contact with you and avoid saying hi as much as possible. A lot of girls in SouthWest come off as really snooty & rude, they are usually not that bad, you just can't be intimidated by them, they will size you up and look at you as competition not as a potential friend. Overall, I have a really good time here, it's fun on the weekends, & my friends are awesome... the quality of education is amazing, but the administration completely blows it...

There is SO MUCH red tape here. It is hard to get anything done. The buildings are pretty ugly and UMass has a ridiculous amount of requirements, especially the honors college. The engineering program is good, though.
