Louisiana offers a averageAverageMeteorology
Louisiana offers a average education at a affordable price, but lacks latest technology for teaching, caring advisors who take time to talk with the students, more extracurricular opportunities for implementing what you learn in the classroom.

Question
At first I wasn't sure I had madeSuper BrilliantFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
At first I wasn't sure I had made the right choice when I finally decided to come to Tech, but after I became really involved in the art department and honors program, I knew I had done well. I had expected the work to not be that challenging, but (besides the math) everything was quite challenging... especially the art classes. I wouldn't change anything about them, because I really like how the art program is set up. All of my teachers have been wonderful, and I have made friends with all of them... even some that I haven't had yet. They are always there if I need to talk with them, or get their advice. And, when I thought the course work wasn't challenging me enough, they worked with me so I could do more with my projects. (Which is why I rated the course work as a 5)

I know most people complained about the lack of social life, but as some one more at home with a book than people, I am just fine with that. What /does/ get old after awhile is hearing people complain about it. I am also saddened by the number of people who think they are "too good" for Tech and superior to what they call "Hicks." Tech is a great school, and if you aren't being challeneged enough, most of the teachers will do backflips to give you suggested reading, exercises, projects, and anything else you need as well as direct you to other teachers or students who can help you. The people there are very friendly, and the only reason I put people could be closeminded and arrogant, is because of all the flake I hear the "hicks" getting.

Is Tech perfect for me? Well, there are things I would change, but I believe I made the right choice in coming and staying. There are a lot of different people here, and I've recieved oppertunities I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. I've always loved learning and asking questions, and Tech is a great place for that. I get a good base with my classes, and I'm able to explore past them. This isn't a good school for highly intellectual people who like to have their hands held. Nor is it for someone who has to be in the midst of things. Tech is very isolated as far as schools go, but this doesn't bug me. I love the city, but being in the rural south is very relaxing to me. I don't learn well if I'm constantly distracted by the lure of city life.

This school is definately not for everyone. However, If you are going into the arts, I encourage you to look into this school.
