Question
Unlike most reviewers I am from Ruston, graduatedMechanical Engineering
Unlike most reviewers I am from Ruston, graduated from Ruston High. I will not go into great detail about the town. I will say that it is a small town atmosphere and if you take the time to get to know some of the people in town you will find that there are plenty of things to do. On the other hand if you want to go to the movies or take a date out for a nice dinner Monroe, 30 miles away, is the best option.

As an engineering school, LA Tech is excellent facility. I have worked with engineers from all over, but the LA Tech Graduates stand out from the rest. Our company has seven engineers/department managers with engineering degrees from LA Tech. The engineering programs at LA Tech prepares you for a career in which all of the resouces may not be available, but with the right attitude and understanding of hte problem you will suceed. Let's face it, in the real world the problem is the easy part, writing and accurate problem statement and finding all of the given variables is the hard part. The engineering professors will give you all of hte necessary tools to complete the task, but not hand you the answers. When I started in the engineering program the professors saw me as a number not an engineer. It was not until the beginning of my junior year that they began to recognize ma as a person who was going to complete and suceed with my engineering degree and future.

This bothered me at first, but I latered realized that until I had proven my self I was nothing more than a number. This is proven by the large number of people who start in engineering and finish with another degree, approximatley 40% of my freshman class. In the end of the day, you may walk away form LA Tech with a poor opinion of the town, people, professors and college, but if you are dedicated enough to follow the course and graduate with an engineering degree you will not walk away unprepared for the real world. That alone should be the goal of the student, professors and college.
