UWF is a great school.Quite BrightFinance
UWF is a great school. It's a small school, which makes a big difference in terms your experience. There is an intimate atmosphere on this campus, and you will be much more sucesfull accademically because the faculty are comitted to student sucess. As per the social life, if you go to the library, you will find motivated and dedicated students there who will share their knowledge with you. If you hang out by the art building, you will encounter the orange headed art kids. If you are into smoking cigarettes, drinking wine, and coffie, then hang out with the english and history kids. There are many opportunities here for you in terms of greek life and social activities. If you are a beach lover, this is a place for you. If you are into health, UWF has a great exercise science program with a lot of beautifull students. UWF is a great place. There are a few bad apples here, as you can probably tell by some of the comments on this web page.... Take those comments with a grain of salt, as many bitter students use this place as a means to vent! UWF is a great school, and i've had a great experience here.

Question
UWF really stands for the University of AckWARDQuite BrightEnglish
UWF really stands for the University of AckWARD Florida because that's what it is. IMO, you get some of the most strangest students across the state that come here but when you admit just about anyone who can graduate high school, that's probably why.

UWF is a low class college. It offers just the bare minimums of what a college can offer. For the price of your tuition, you get a gym, crappy places to eat, a nature trail, classes to go to, and that's about it. You will probably end up going Greek because if you dont, you wont meet anyone whos anyone on campus and end up sitting around doing nothing or studying non-stop.

UWF is a step up from CC, but barely one. It really does not feel like college but more like High School. Pensacola is old and after 400 years it still sucks. Putting a college on a nature reverse in a navy town has to be one of the worse ideas ever since it restricts itself so much. They have such a hard time expanding due to all the laws and limits the state of Florida gives it and plus since the state gives the University crap funding for it's programs, it has a difficult time adding masters and other programs.

So I guess it's not UWF's fault for why it sucks so bad. It has all the basic programs other colleges have except Marine Bio which is a pretty popular choice here but you can easily go to FIU or FSU or a better school and do the same thing.

There are some opportunities here but UWF doesn't give you a real world experience. The real world is a lot more fierce and not as nice as UWF likes to make it seem. You can do SGA, CAB, Orientation leader, work for housing, have a shitty campus job, but it hardly offers anything realistic or really engaging.

I feel UWF tries to hold students hands too much and babies us a lot here. Greek Life keeps putting more restrictions on organizations here and doesnt give enough freedom to the greeks which is why Greek Life is going down hill and less and less people want to rush or even be a part of it.

Its cheap to live in Pensacola and UWF gives alot of money just to get people to come here. But then again if your smart and can make over a 3.0 any other college in Florida will do the same for you. Anyone with bright futures or alot of financial aid could be using their money else where and be getting more of a bang for their buck.Don't read all these positive reviews since none of them are going to tell you what you should know. If you want a small quiet school with a bunch of strange people and a few legit people, maybe UWF is for you. But if you want a real college experience with smart interesting people, stay away from UWF. It's not worth it, even for the walmart price for an average education.

Question
Great up and comingQuite BrightAnthropology
Great up and coming school. Unlike UCF and USF the school is gaining reputation based on more than student body size. However, that is changing, in the next 10 years the student population is expected to reach 20,000.
