Positive Negative Neutral Advice
This school is absolutely pitiful.Super BrilliantOther
This school is absolutely pitiful. This town is even worse. As far as local people go, there are religious fanatic rednecks and a snobby little circle of small town hipsters. There is NOTHING to do in town. Play music by yourself, play wall ball, read, play a video game, watch a movie. At home. Alone. Good luck making any friends in Pensacola or at UWF, people seem to have all the friends they want and there is no room for you. If you have any ounce of honest, slightly different interests from what is popular or conservative, forget making friends as well. This doesn't apply if you're a fashion zombie hipster, which in that case you would be embraced by 10-12 tightpants posers to play in aids wolf ripoff bands or "christian hardcore" bands. Professors at UWF range from pretty good, to laughable. I had a math professor from China who spoke completely unintelligible English, an ethics professor who waved off racist comments made by other students, and I had a doddering, extremely senile professor in several other courses who stumbled through several semesters of absolutely nothing, to name a few. As far as work goes, its busy work, and it feels like they use the same lesson plans/curriculum/whatever over and over again, you will never get an interesting or exciting assignment. Ever. Professors and staff in general seem to busy to help you with anything. Good luck having any adviser return your email to you, you wouldn't want to bother them would you. When you ask for help about any kind of paper work or signing up for something/etc, you will often hear "you can do that online" and that's it. For night classes, the nearly-in-the-woods parking lots are poorly lit, and I have heard many horror stories of assault and rape on campus. There are tons, and tons, and tons of speed traps on campus drive, waiting to bleed some cash out of starving, disillusioned college students, but you will NEVER see the cops patrolling those dark parking lots at night or helping out with anything. Regularly the campus goes on some kind of lock down for vicious criminals or dangerous gases on campus. Building 75 is next to building 6, and building 9 is next to building 52, on the other side of the campus. The food served in the nautilus market is really, really good, however they serve the same things every day and students living on campus complain often. There is a stupid, waste of money trolley that drives fat girls across the street occasionally. Other universities get real concerts, we get has-beens like the yin yang twins, which was once. Other than that we get...nothing? I dont know. The students seem to be all stereotypical military, or extremely boring people that get drunk and or high every day, which is about all there is to do here. UWF is very, very small, which could be nice. Events usually happen on the cannon greens, with loud moronic music blasting and people eating, Ive never noticed much else. Also, these cannon greens happen to be next to the library, where people are trying to study/read as lil' wayne blares through the brick walls. The library is wonderful, and massive, with a lot of computers for students to use and places to sit. But it offers all of the disadvantages of a giant school, and none of the advantages of a small school. No one will ever remember your name(or notice you), which is sad because "at UWF, you're a name and not a number". Advisers don't seem to care much about helping you. The dorms are jail cells with desks, you're lucky if you get a window, and especially lucky if you have one that you can see the sky through. Also, the dorms are moldy and disgusting. Creativity Aat UWF is unnoticed and or unimportant. The fountains nearby, an apartment complex students often living, is rather nice. There are a few really great local restaurants. Pensacola and UWF are surrounded by a few fields I mean towns called Pace, Milton, Cantonment, Niceville, Destin, Navarre, and Eglin Airforce Base. The whole environment is, conclusively, immensely alienating and depressing, and I am extremely disappointed with this college experience. Don't expect crazy parties unless they involve nasty drugs, or pretty girls unless they're cruel. UWF is NOTHING like any college movie you have ever seen, unfortunately. If I had to describe everything about UWF and Pensacola with two words, they would be "soul crushing".

UWF is a great school? There is art, lectures, concerts, and fantastic academics. The faculty has great connections all over the country, and internship opportunities are abound. I highly recommend this school. The 3D engineering simulator is very cool, and I highly recommend you check out the new engineering and computer science school. Also, they are building a brand new business school, a football stadium, and new solar powered dorms? UWF is very progressive and there is a lot going on?. The next five years are going to be very exciting at UWF.

Question
UWF might as well be short of theNot so brightPsychology
UWF might as well be short of the University of Wierd Ass Florida. It is such a crappy school compared to the other 10 respectable universities in Florida.

UWF is extremely similar to FGCU and even UNF. It's very small and does not have a solid social life or programs. You will gain an education at UWF if you learn to read books and educate yourself. The instructors in a lot of departments are dumber than the students.

UWF lacks any sort of entertainment or things to do outside of the class room. All the places to eat on campus suck. The gym is decent. Nobody cares about the sports teams, there is no serious tailgating, no serious parties on campus, and nothing seriously fun. The dorms are eh and getting a house off campus with a group of good friends is a better idea.

Greek life isnt that interesting since it's only a fraction of what other schools offer you. SGA doesnt do much, all the other organizations on campus are small and not very serious either. There isnt much diversity. If your christian, you might like it since they are big on that along with gay organizations but that's about it. Not much room for for other ethnicity.

Pensacola sucks, its a very depressing city. The beach is done for and the bars dont let anyone in under 21 except seville and fish house which are very mediocre. If your under 21 you will be going to house parties very often along with night trips to the god awful waffle house and wataburger.

I transfered out of UWF to an average Florida state university after 2 years. I didnt want the huge college life of UF or FSU, but at the same time I did not want to relive high school. College is about making your own fun and experiences, but in a piss poor town with not much to do and a lot of strange racist people, it's incredibly frustrating and not worth your time.Get your AA/60 credit hours and go somewhere else. Or go to UWF for 2 years to see exactly what I mean and then move on with your life. If your a southerner you may like it, but if your someone who likes diversity, high quality **** and wants to go to a real institution of higher education, stay the **** away from UWF!
