DO NOT listen to the counsellors, they willSuper BrilliantPreMed and Medical
DO NOT listen to the counsellors, they will screw with your mind, it's the truth, believe it! UWF is not the school you want to choose. I speak from hands on experience. I am hating this small school. It has really crappy facilities and the teachers are condescending. Please, for the love of God, don't go here. Do yourself a huge favor and pick somewhere else, like canada university or something.

Question
As a transfer student from Pensacola Christian CollegeAverageBiology
As a transfer student from Pensacola Christian College (PCC) with a choice between having to start a new program all over at a university outside of Pensacola,FL where PCCs classes are not recognized or continuing classes at UWF closeby, I chose the latter. I lost motivation from the get go due to lack of interest in Marine Biology and taking tests. I realized quickly how the most of the education system in the US is based on tests: Generalized, standardized, and otherwise useless tests! Instructors should assign other forms of student work, such as writing, class projects, etc...to gauge a student's handle on subject matter.

UWF administration is blatantly treating its current students like dirt compared to potential or incoming students. Upper level classes have been reduced in number to make way for standardized required classes for incoming freshmen. It's pretty obvious to current students who are paying attention to how their personal learning goals are being ignored. Even staff and faculty have being noticing...some of them have been honest enough to commiserate with the students such as myself who realize this.

Two important major undergraduate programs (botany and micro biology) were cut and are no longer offered. But the athletics programs have expanded in many ways. You can't tell me that the two aren't correlated in some way.

It's pretty obvious that UWF is cutting back in important areas to current students (services, more fees, etc...) to make way for expanding Athletics to attract freshmen (=more money to UWF). !!!!!!!!!Don't go to a school like UWF that's being run like a competitive business instead of a center for higher education!!!!!!!!!!! You will feel cheated if you're a biology major.

Question
The technical studies department is fantastic.BrightComputer Science
The technical studies department is fantastic. They are all about helping the student. Dr. White is wonderful. You have your grade within hours of when you submit - WITH COMMENTS - helpful comments and praise when applicable. I did have a bad experience taking an elective in the Education Department but my experience with my major (which has been all online classes) has been truly much better than I ever thought possible. If you are self-motivated and want to go at your own pace, online with UWF is the way to go. Don't get me wrong. You do a lot of work, but it is well directed. I do have to admit that all of the professors do not grade as quickly as Dr. White. I'm very glad I chose the Technical Studies major and would recommend it to anyone whose interests are in that arena.
