Question
The Civil Engineering department is almost all whiteBrightCivil Engineering
The Civil Engineering department is almost all white males and are very arrogant and unethical. How does a UF CE professor that has a side engineering business get jobs to do engineering on construction projects on campus? That is a huge conflict of interest that regular Civil Engineers are not allowed to do. You can't work for the FDOT and have your own engineering business on the side and get FDOT projects. It's illegal, yet UF professors are allowed to do exactly that.

That and the Civil Engineering department is very anti-asian and will not give any help to asian students. Most professors are too busy furthering their own career than doing their jobs. Most professors are not available to students to answer questions and if they are available they will just send you to TA's that really don't know much since they are undergrads also that have taken the class the semester before.

There are a couple of blatantly racist and sexist professors in the Civil Engineering department but the college is powerless to get rid of them since they have tenure. The classes are overcrowded with my smallest class being 90 students. And the civil engineering computer lab is a closest with old computers in them. They spend absolutely no money on students and it is getting worse with the budget cuts they are implementing. I can see it right now since they have cut my financial aid and raised tuition and other fees.

Question
Receiving a degree from UF has helped meAgriculture/Horticulture
Receiving a degree from UF has helped me very little. I got an excellent internship right out of school which did not lead to a job because I am not the right sex (yes sexual discrimination does exist). Two years later I am forced to live at home and work as a teacher, which is totally unrelated to my major. I have my degree in entomology which is not a bullshit major but I wish I would have majored in a field in which I could get a job.
