Question
UF is a 'large' university.BrightChemistry
UF is a 'large' university. Generally, the faculty and student body overhype the prestige of this place. Alot of things are done in a draw out, bureacratic way; especially within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Professor quality is pretty evenly distributed; about a third are horrible and care less failing half their class; a third are average and a third are the great people, who devote just as much time to teaching and students as they do research.Learn from the advice of the upperclassmen on who to take for your classes.

Question
I just finished my first year at UFBrightPsychology
I just finished my first year at UF and I am so happy I got into this school. I don't understand the people that say they don't learn anything and can't live the college experience. I believe these people are doing this to themselves. All the professors are VERY approachable and even give us EXTRA office hours. The class focuses on A LOT of discussion. Which is why most classes are simply limited to comprehensive exams, participation grade and reflection papers that actually make you think about what you are learning. The classes are very very blunt and honest. Sometimes you feel like you don't learn anything because it all seems to easy WHICH IS WHY YOU GOT ACCEPTED because you can handle this. At the end of the year you find yourself subconsciously talking about these things with other people in conversations.

College experience is about growing up. Taking responsibility. Doing things on your own. Waking up in the morning and making the decision to either go to class or sleep in. Someone said that the things they learn at the University they can learn it from a book. However, the book will not offer the degree nor will it offer the discussions and the point of views of others.

When it comes to creativity and fun, the University of Florida is the 2nd party school in the nation. Sure we don't have a lot of clubs around, but we don't need that. When you have GATOR NIGHTS, Gator Humans VS Zombies (you get to play with 1000 students all over campus where the "humans" can run around campus until 3 am holding nerf guns). AND you get to paint your orgasm on a t-shirt outside the north lawn with acrylic painting using paint brushes or... your hands... or your feet. Plus, if you REALLY want to get the whole college experience, live on campus for a year or so. That's what I did. That's where you'll make most of your friends. Each hall has different types of students. There is a hall for people inclined to art and music so that you can meet people that share that same interest. I was in the International Hall because I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the World. There is no University more diverse than this one when most of your professors are from the other side of the hemisphere and when your roommates and floormates are from France, Australia, England, Japan, Korea, Africa, Spain, and freaking Singapore! Seriously? Not to mention the epic water balloon fights they have every semester or the dance marathon when everyone dances for 24 hours straight, or when we all run down the University streets in our undies to signify the donation of clothes to the needy.

You want College experience? Come to the University of Florida. You want people to be open minded? Sign up for the class of introduction to philosophy where they question the Existence of God and many more things.

Join an organization, there are more than 800, and if you can't find one that you like, you can make your own and make it known and you'll be surprised of how many people think just like you. In a crowd of 50,000 students, at least 100 have to think like you, trust me.

People that don't enjoy their time at this University is because they don't want to. They didn't call it a Public Ivy for nothing and they didn't just rank best University of all Florida state for nothing.

Sure a lot of people transfer to other Universities, because sometimes certain universities have programs that others are interested in that UF doesn't have. However, for your undergrad years I strongly, STRONGLY SUGGEST the University of Florida. I haven't even been to a football game and I've had this much fun from the University. Imagine if I actually DO attend a football game. It's not about football. It's about goofing off with your friends and making memories. Paint your face orange and blue and do a gator chomp and playing beer pong! Getting straight A's and B's because you deserve them and not because the classes are easy. You just see them easy because you're fucking smart and worthy of being at the school.
