It's been almost 10 years since I graduated from PCC, and that seems like a fair amount of time to allow myself to accurately judge my experience there.

Bottom line is this-- having an unaccredited degree from ANY college is a waste of time and resources that can never be returned to you. PCC prides itself in many aspects of campus life, spiritual relevance, etc but this, now, reminds me of a very insignificant, boorish and low-quality date trying to convince you that their shabby clothing and lack of ambition will turn water into wine if you'll just "give them a chance". The point of pursuing (and I do mean PURSUING) higher education is to earn a degree that will take you into your chosen profession and prepare you for further studies.

PCC creates the illusion that their world is the only one you need. Is that reality, though? Unless you're planning to move onto the faculty and make it your permanent home, no. Although I was able to get a bachelor's level job with my degree, getting into a master's program has been a struggle. You will enter these interviews with little confidence, knowing that you've already fallen short of the first requirement, regardless of how smart you are. Having to always be "the exception to the rule" grates on one's nerves and heart, and for once I'd like to be able to fill out an application with confidence that there is absolutely NO reason why I shouldn't be admitted into the master's program. No strings pulled, no exceptions made because I didn't meet the most basic criteria. I just want to be recognized as someone who worked for 4 years on a degree that I thought mattered.
