Life is not going to be a cupQuite BrightChemical Engineering
Life is not going to be a cup of tea, so please don't expect any college experience to be. Some of Howard's faults are in its administration, the people that work for Howard have very bad attitudes and are lazy. They only care about they're next break. Keeping that in mind, be the creator of your own destiny. Be sure to have your financial aid in order, and keep your own copies of everything(because 9 times out of 10 they will lose it). Get as much done during the summer when they're are less students on campus, even if you go home to another state make phone calls. BE PERSISTENT, I've noticed unless you annoy the staff they will not care about you or help you.

If you approach Howard with this mindset you are already one up to everyone else.
As far as the social life, for young black minds this is the best place to be. You can learn so much from so many different experiences and people it seems to make the rest of your life seem boring. Oh and as far as parties and things of that nature, come its Howard. There is no college experience that has the potential of comparing to it. So even if you decide to go somewhere else make you come to homecoming at least once in your lifetime.

Question
Howard University prepared me to go to workJournalism
Howard University prepared me to go to work in the field of journalism. I was recruited from campus by a major metropolitan daily newspaper and went to work 10 days after graduation. I have only been unemployed once in the last 20 years and it was my choice. I've lived in three or four different states, and traveled to at least 25 while working as a journalist.

While at school I was pretty active. I worked on two newspapers, two magazines, three newsletters, student council, resident assistant, and maintained a 3.0 gpa, roughly. I enjoyed my college experience and credit it with giving me the ability to do what I want despite any obstacle.

Like most urban schools, Howard has its problems with city life. Like most big schools, Howard has its problems with administration and academics. Truthly, most schools in the country could stand to improve.

If you are considering Howard vs. some other school, you should realize that by telling prospective employers that you are a Howard graduate, they immediate expect excellence from you. The number of graduates from Howard who are exceptional in their fields means that employers expect that you have the capability to do wonders for their organization. In addition, Howard will instill pride in yourself and your race, and it will give you the self confidence to compete based on ability.

Question
There are a lot of things to beBrightElectrical Engineering
There are a lot of things to be considered about this school. First off, if you think that coming to this school is going to be easy. Forget it. If you're looking for a school where they pamper and baby you and make sure everything you need is taken care of. Forget it. If you want the top notch of everything and that everything is of high quality. Forget it. At Howard you will be dealing with everything. The best and worst that life can throw at you. The administration is not well organized and you will have to run down everything. You need one thing done? well then be prepared to spend the whole day getting it done and jumping from place to place. You will have professors who can barely speak english and those who can't teach. BUT.. in the end you will be a better person. The people you meet here are the best you will meet anywhere. You will be able to deal with life better than anyone from other schools. This is a school where you grow up a lot and if you've been given everything then sorry you shouldn't come here. The education here is just as good as anywhere IF you are willing to put in the work. Students from this school has gone onto MIT, Caltech, UC Berkeley, etc. The best schools in the world, but those people but in the extra work. You need to have drive and motivation to make it here. The neighbourhood is not the best, but it's not the worst. It's getting better, slowly but surely. Washington, DC has a lot to do. Parties, museums, art galleries, etc. This is an exciting city and you can get around very easily because of the Metro rail and bus system.
