Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Yale was an amazing experience.Biology
Yale was an amazing experience. The academics were excellent as were the professors who seemed to really care about what they were teaching. The campus is beautiful and New Haven is a great town for college students. But what really separated out yale from other colleges was the diversity of the student body. I learned more from my late nights with my friends than in any classroom. That, together with a lax campus alcohol/drug policy and a very social residential college scence, makes living at yale awesome (and the food ain't bad either).

There were negatives of course. One is the increased workload there compared to other ivy league schools. Yale forces you to take at least 36 courses to graduate more or less while other schools like brown and harvard only require 32. People aren't competetive but because everyone is so smart there, its a hard task to get an A. And if you are a science major, you are going to have to walk 3/4 mile to class in the morning which sucks in the cold! But beyond that, I would give anything to go back. As for career, the yale name will get you far. No problem getting into a professional/graduate program either.

Your classmates are some of the most brilliant, interesting, and enthusiastic kids in the country. Discussions outside of class, whether at the dining hall or at whatever club you dedicate most of your time, are where you will do most of your learning.
